Exciting new projects

Well, it’s been a while since we made any announcements. Rest assured, we’ve been quietly working away at things and are delighted to announce two new projects for 2024, as well as the continuation of others. Below are brief details but more information and how to access these projects will be coming soon;

NEW – Who Lives in the Playground?

An innovative intergenerational project working in a local primary school, where our unique take on the natural world will be shared with youngsters and an older persons community group/parents/local residents. We will take over an afternoon during school term and listen to the intergenerational ‘oo’s and aah’s ‘ that will no doubt resound! Kindly funded by Clocaenog Wind Farm.

NEW – Tall Poppies

A lovely project continuing our work in Holywell hospital but with some delightful additional features. Our nature studies will be delivered to the inpatients while we are joined by youngsters from a local school. The sessions will be a combination of facts and crafts. We’ll also be doing some table top gardening with the groups, based in therapeutic horticulture, and a local mental health charity and church will benefit from our efforts. Thank you again, National Lottery for funding us.

NEW – Mighty Oaks and Acorns

In Colwyn Bay Community hospital – Bringing adult inpatients together with youngsters from a local primary school around the theme of the natural world – you can sense a theme I’m sure 🙂

Nature Through the Window – thanks to a further grant from Denbighshire Dementia Aware Fund, the project continues until the end of the year. Intergenerational, dementia inclusive nature sessions, with a difference. Now with a social prescribing element added.

Grow4it – continues in Llandudno hospital

Published by the back door gardener

Passionate about growing food in any space and about teaching others to do the same. I'm trying to start a backdoor revolution - no allotment needed. I've fed myself from my garden for over 10 years; only needing to buy some emergency parsnips for Christmas several years ago.

  1. This is so good to hear, who would have thought that these ideas of yours would have morphed into an excellent business.
